One to One Tutoring for Primary Aged Children

Jibber Jabber Tutoring

For 5 – 11 year olds

One to one and small group tutoring for children aged 5 – 11 is now available.

As a result of Covid-19 restrictions, July / August sessions will be carried out through a secure Zoom video call.

Sessions can focus on any areas of the  Primary Curriculum and will be offered in a cross curricular, purposeful way, incorporating the likes and interests of the child into activities and rewards.  Specific areas for development might include:

  1. Reading (phonics, comprehension)
  2. Writing (including spelling, grammar, genres, punctuation, motivation, editing)
  3. Maths (including mental and written methods and strategies)

Children will gain confidence, motivation and metacognitive awareness (recognising their own personal learning styles and preferences).

Tutor Details:

Hi.  I’m Lindsay, a primary school teacher with 19 years worth of experience working across the primary sector.  I work in a large primary school in Bristol for 2.5 days every week and during the recent closures I have been working with the Year 6 children in our school hub.    I am also a classically trained musician and mum of two primary school aged children so I completely understand the challenge of home-learning and being a working parent.

Jibber Jabber has been running for 5 years, delivering developmental, story-inspired classes to  nurseries, after school clubs, as well as in community venues to children from 6 months to 11 years old.

I use experiential, active and fun methods to motivate and inspire children whilst making them feel at ease and ready to learn.

Getting started . . .

All bookings start with a free ‘Getting to Know You’ session in the form of an informal chat.  During this session, children might engage in a simple game and a discrete diagnostics task may be carried out to ensure that learning and support is focused in the correct way from the start.  This will be discussed and arranged with parents during the initial booking correspondence.  A personal plan will then be constructed showing main objectives and aims for learning over an agreed block of lessons.

A follow up task, along with ideas for further consolidation and development will be emailed to parents following each session.  This is optional and to be carried out at the discretion of the parents.

An up to date DBS certificate is available for inspection on request.
